           Blue in color and seated
in a lotus bloom, Medicine Buddha

(tib. Sanggye-Menlha) is often called the Buddha of Healing.  He dresses in
monastic robes and holds in his left hand a patra or bowl, while his right hand holds the
medicinal plant arura.  As the Buddha of Healing, he is considered the supreme
      physician.
            Medicine Buddha is
the deity involved in the health, both physical and spiritual, of the practitioner.
Always found in the office of a Tibetan doctor, devotion to the Medicine Buddha is an
essential part of the Tibetan process, not simply the holistic medicines prescribed.
The supreme physician is looked up to not only by doctors, but practitioners
wishing to remove any physical barriers in the way of reaching their spiritual
      goals.
